St. John Passion

The ensemble will present Bach’s monumental St. John Passion at St. Peter’s featuring Tina Stallard, soprano, Helen Tintes-Scheuermann, contralto, Mark Husey, tenor, Jacob Will, bass, with tenor Daniel Gainey singing the role of the Evangelist.

Colla Voce Presents A God Disguised

Colla Voce, vocal chamber ensemble of 20 choral professionals from the Columbia area under the direction of Larry Wyatt, will present a Christmas-themed concert at 7:30 p.m. on December 14, 2007 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 1529 Assembly Street. Admission is $10.00 general/$8.00 students and seniors.

The concert will include solos, duets and trios from the 17th Century, with works by Schütz, Buxtehude and Telemann. The full ensemble will present a Magnificat by Bach’s Dresden contemporary Jan Dismas Zelenka. A unique and heartwarming work will be A God Disguised by Swedish Romantic Lars-Erik Larsson for choir, soprano and baritone soloists, piano and narrator. A tremendously exciting Estampie Natalis by Vaclav Nelhybel and the mysterious, scintillating Angels by John Tavener will frame this portion of the concert. The concert will close with familiar carols by Stephen Paulus and Rhonda Polay.  In addition to soloists from the ensemble, the concert will include Ann Wilson, pianist and Mark Husey, organist.
